John B. Haviland, Distinguished Research Professor of Anthropology at UCSD, is a Tzotzil (Tsotsil, Tzotsil) interpreter for courtroom and other legal and health proceedings. He is certified as an interpreter for Dept. of Jusice, Homeland Security, and immigration purposes by SOSI, and is a professionally (language) qualified interpreter in various Federal and State Court districts. He works as interpreter, translator, and expert witness in cases involving speakers of Mayan Indian languages from Chiapas and other parts of Mexico.
